April 15th is nearly here, the deadline for filing your state and federal taxes. Fortunately, that’s pushed back until the 16th this year since the 15th falls on a Sunday. There’s SO MUCH to know about filing your taxes; and it seems to get more complicated each year.
If you’re looking for some local help with your taxes, Williams-Keepers is one of the larger business consulting firms in Mid-Missouri. It has offices in both Columbia and Jefferson City. You can connect with them on Twitter and Facebook.
The Missouri Department of Revenue handles not only tax collection, but a plethora of other duties for the state. The agency is (somewhat surprisingly) not on Facebook, but you can connect with them via Twitter and YouTube(!). The DOR’s YouTube channel is full of helpful videos including how to register your business and information about a graduated drivers license.
On the national level, the Internal Revenue Service has a strong social media presence. You can connect with the IRS on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. TONS of fantastic information here including tax tips, how to do your taxes for free, and tips for tax preparers (i.e. CPA’s and the like).
It’s a time of year no one is truly a fan of, but it’s better to have information like this at your disposal than not. On a brighter note, what are you doing with your tax refund this year?
